H-E-B to Develop a New Distribution Campus to Enhance its Supply Chain

H-E-B, a leading Texas grocer, has acquired nearly 500 acres in Hempstead, Texas, to develop a new distribution campus that will enhance its supply chain capabilities. This strategic land purchase marks the beginning of a multi-phase construction project set to commence later this year. Positioned just an hour outside of Houston—a key growth area for H-E-B where it has recently opened two new stores—the campus will eventually house multiple facilities to support the grocer’s expanding operations.

This initiative is part of H-E-B’s broader strategy to increase its presence across major Texas metropolitan areas, including a rapid expansion in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. With plans to diversify its store formats, including discount and convenience chains, H-E-B continues to solidify its position as a pivotal player in the retail market. The company remains the largest privately held employer in Texas, boasting over 435 stores in the state and Mexico, and has been ranked as the top grocer by Dunnhumby’s annual ratings for the second consecutive year.

Honda Investing Billions in Canada to Build Out EV Supply Chain

Honda Motor Co. is set to revolutionize its operations in Canada with a massive CAD $15 billion ($11 billion) investment aimed at establishing a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. This transformative initiative will include the construction of a new EV factory and a dedicated battery plant in Alliston, Ontario, which are poised to enhance Honda’s production capabilities significantly. By 2028, the EV factory will produce up to 240,000 vehicles annually, while the battery plant will boast a production capacity of 36 gigawatt hours per year.

This investment not only underscores Honda’s commitment to innovation and sustainability but also marks a significant expansion of its North American manufacturing landscape. The development will include advanced facilities for procuring and processing raw materials essential for battery production, highlighting partnerships with industry leaders like Posco Future M Co. and Asahi Kasei.

With this move, Honda is not only deepening its roots in Canadian soil—where it has already invested over CAD $6.5 billion—but also advancing its global pledge to achieve zero emissions by 2040.
