Wireless Network & Hardware Installation

Datex personnel experience with all type of hardware equipments, barcode scanners, mobile computers, wireless network and printers will ensure your company the reception of equipment that is fully functional and ready for use.

When it comes to wireless network, it is important to allow experience personnel install your infrastructure to ensure that you are getting the most of your units.  Before the actual installation, Datex will prepare all devices to ensure all units are configured properly and are in working order.

Though staging seems like an extra step, it is one of the most important steps in the installation process. This extra step makes sure when the hardware arrives at your facility, the installed access points are in working order and will provide the proper coverage to their destinations.

Staging allows Datex to create a wireless network seamlessly allowing your network to stay up and running without large delays in uptime. Depending on the size of your facility and the placement of access points, a complete wireless network could be set up in under a day.

Datex Wireless Solutions will then install your wireless network, test and certify its operation. At completion, the installation will be documented for future reference.

The installation phase is the most physically demanding phase of the project. Using the survey report, the installation should be a smooth process. The access points and antennas will be installed in the facility using the marked up drawing made after the site survey. Usually, the higher the access points and antennas are mounted, the better the signal will propagate.

Activities during network setup & hardware installation include but are not limited to:

  • Mounting of access points
  • Installation of NEMA enclosures on case-by-case basis
  • Mounting of antennas
  • Connection of antennas to access points
  • Connection of Backbone LAN to access points
  • Connection of power to access points
  • Installation and connection of remote power system
  • Verification of coverage
  • Configuration of access points and hardware to include:
    • Proper firmware level
    • Radio information (system ID, channel, bit rate)
    • IP addresses (provided by customer)
  • Verification of backbone connectivity:
    • Ping access points
    • Ping Hosts

All cabling and power runs should be done and tested prior to the installation of the access points. After completing the installation, testing for proper operation and coverage may indicate the need to move access points and possibly use different settings. Finally, documentation on all the system hardware and software will be provided to the IT staff as an aid to be used when supporting the operational system.
